One blessing of nursing.

Yesterday I was feeling so worn down and tired and my back was aching a bit as I am 7 months pregnant and have two toddlers. After we said prayers and gave kisses, I laid with my sweet two year old Emerald as we always do and nursed her as she/before she fell asleep. As soon as she started nursing, my whole body completely relaxed, my body was flooded with the "feel good" nursing hormones, and my back ache completely went away. I was so happy and thanking God for this wonderful gift of breastfeeding- plus Emerald was happy and content!

Thoughts on that ravenous hunger...

Since this blog is supposed to be about nursing, among other things, I wont apologize that this post is about that. :)

For some reason this morning I was remembering that ravenous, all consuming HUNGER I felt (and still occasionally feel) the first 6 months or so, but especially right after I had Emerald. My body was making enough milk to completely satisfy that little human being. That's pretty amazing. There were times when all of a sudden, I'd get so incredibly hungry that I had to eat something, anything or else I'd probably faint. LOL

I remember my friends Matt and Jess coming by after Emerald was born to meet her and bring me a meal. I think it was Matt that had made me a whole batch of Snickerdoodle cookies and told me that I had permission to eat as many of them as I wanted because I was nursing. Believe me, I did just that. :) That was so fun and sweet of them. I need to be sure I return the favor, although I doubt my cookies will turn out as delicious as theirs were.

it's our anniversary

today is our second wedding anniversary. it has been a wonderful and full two years. i am so thankful for our our quick courtship. we dated for only two months and were engaged for a long four months. ;) yes, we tried to get married sooner, but the church was booked! :) we talked about marriage less than a month after we dated. and no, God did not "tell" me Matthias was my husband. we just wanted to get married and felt completely at peace with that!

there was something about how he talked and what he valued the day we met. he talked about wanting a wife that would be home and homeschool his kids. i knew i wasn't crazy! he affirmed what i knew God had called me to do. i had no clue that night we'd end up together though!

fast forward a couple weeks later to a halloween party i met him and jon jenkins at, along with my pal jules, that i only went to cause i gave them my word i would...matthias and i ended up sitting next to each other and playing catch phrase. that was the night we both started liking each other... and our first picture together was taken. i was a jedi and he was a cricket player. a match made in heaven.

i highly recommend whirlwind romances.  once you're married, you're stuck anyway! ;) we didn't care about our wedding or having a house or anything...we just wanted to be together.

and i highly recommend leaving your "family planning" up to the Lord as well. doesn't it all make sense that way? get married, have (and adopt) babies...it's a natural progression, if you know what i mean. :) it has only made our marriage stronger, less superficial, and more wonderful.

i couldn't be happier with this man i married. he is so hardworking, so loving, so handsome, such a good husband and father. thank the Lord (no really) all my hundreds of crushes before matthias didn't work out. God really does know best.

happy birthday emerald pictures :)

For Emerald's birthday we had a combined party with Matthias the day before Easter. All of our birthdays are in April: 15, 20, 23. That's a lot of birthdays in one week!
